Bangladeshi think tanks rank high
The Institute for Policy, Advocacy and Governance (IPAG), one of the youngest non-government international think tanks in Bangladesh, has been recognised under seven categories of the widely acclaimed 2017 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report.
IPAG has been ranked 26th among the top 105 international think tanks identified in the category of Think Tanks to Watch in the year 2018.
It also ranked 42nd among the top 132 think tanks selected in the International Development category. The government-owned BIDS has been ranked 26th and while Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) was ranked 88th in the same category, says the report, released on January 30.
BIDS has been ranked 16th and Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) has been ranked 20th in the category of Top Think Tanks in Southeast Asia and the Pacific region, among other government owned think tanks.
Under this category, non-government think tanks, Alternative Development Initiative (ADI) was ranked 47th; CPD ranked 52nd; Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) ranked 53rd among others.
Globally, IPAG is ranked 56th under the category Best Think Tank Conference and 81st in Best Use of Social Media and Network in which BRAC has been ranked 74th.
In the category, Think Tanks with the Best External Relations/Public Engagement Program, IPAG is ranked 72nd.
The Think Tanks & Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) of the Lauder Institute, University of Pennsylvania, US has compiled the report, covering 7,500 think tanks in 179 countries.
