Bicyclist killed, 3 cops hurt in Dhaka road crashes

A bicyclist was killed and three policemen were injured in two separate road accidents in Dhaka early today.

Solaiman Hossin Mojnu, 32, a resident of Goran of the capital’s Khilgaon area, suffered injuries as a bus hit his bicycle at Rampura around 2:00am, police said.

Mojnu, a driver by occupation, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead, said SI Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the DMCH police camp.

In another accident, three policemen were hit by a bus in Jatrabari area of Dhaka while they were visiting a scene of collision between a covered van and a truck there around 4:30 am, SI Bachchu also said.

The injured officials are SI Jalal, 42, Constable Mofijul, 38, and Constable Anisur Rahman, 42 of Jatrabari Police Station, he added.
