75 teachers get training in Ctg
Seventy five schoolteachers participated in the second zonal training session of "English in Schools" (EIS) programme, which was held in Chittagong city yesterday to develop their English language teaching skills.
At the daylong training programme, jointly organised by The Daily Star and telecom operator Robi Axiata Ltd at a restaurant in Khulshi, the participants, including headmasters from 25 schools, were exposed to modern tools and techniques for effective teaching of the English language.
The training included discussions, demonstrations on writing English essays and presentation skills and view-exchange session to make English language learning an enjoyable experience for secondary school level students.
Robi's Chief Corporate and People Officer Matiul Islam Nowshad inaugurated the training session as the chief guest while Deputy Director of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Chittagong Mohammad Aziz Uddin was the special guest. Schools Inspector Shahada Aktar and Robi's Vice President for Communication and Corporate Responsibility Ekram Kabir were also present.
Twenty five selected schools from each Sylhet, Khulna, Chittagong and Rajshahi zones receive free copies of The Daily Star every Monday along with the weekly page “English in Schools”, an English learning tool for students and teachers.
The EIS page developer Shireen Hasan and her team conducted the training yesterday. Rajshahi is the next zone to get the training.
