7,139 new posts for DMP

A total of 7,139 new posts have been added to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) administration, a circular of the home ministry said today.

The new posts are: one deputy inspector general (DIG), two additional DIGs, 11 superintendents of police (SP), 40 additional SPs, 35 assistant police commissioners, 160 inspectors and 1,050 sub-inspectors.

Among the 7,139 posts, 89 cadre posts are permanent and the rest are temporary, the circular mentioned.

At present, the strength of the DMP is 25,000.
