2 accused get bail
Two prime accused in three cases over irregularities in recruitment to different posts of Bangladesh Railway (BR) (east zone) securedbail from a Chittagong court yesterday.
The court, however, rejected the bail petition of suspended general manager of the zone Yusuf Ali Mrida in the cases, said Public Prosecutor (PP) Mahmudul Haque Mahmud of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The bail was granted considering the fact that the accused -- suspended senior welfare officer Golam Kibria and chief mechanical engineer Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury – have been in jail since long, said the PP.
The cases were filed on charges of irregularities in recruitment to the posts of ticket issuer, train number checker, and tool keeper, he added. But, the two are yet to secure bail in five more cases out of 13. Mrida was suspended in April, 2012.
