11kg gold seized at Dhaka airport
Customs officials seized 100 gold bars weighing around 11.6 kilogrammes from a Qatar Airways flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka today.
No one was arrested in this connection, HM Ahsanul Kabir, assistant commissioner of Customs, told The Daily Star.
Acting on a tip-off that gold bars were being smuggled inside the plane, the customs officials searched the aircraft and found the 100 gold bars beneath a passenger seat, he added.
The flight came in Dhaka from Doha around 11:00am.
The estimated price of the gold bars is worth Tk 6 crore, he said.
