Architecture students gather for hands-on learning at ARCHJAM 2025

A four-day architecture camp titled ARCHJAM 2025 concluded on Saturday at the Rover Scouts Training Centre in Bahadurpur, Gazipur, drawing around 1,000 students from institutions across Bangladesh.
Organised by the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) and sponsored by Shah Cement, the event aimed to take architectural education beyond the classroom, offering students practical experience through live projects and collaborative learning.
From May 22 to 25, participants worked in small groups on a series of hands-on activities, including bamboo structure building, earthen architecture, treehouse construction, rural housing design, and nature-integrated hiking. Each team was mentored by practising architects, offering close supervision and real-time feedback.
Evening sessions featured open discussions, storytelling, and campfires, encouraging creative dialogue and peer-to-peer learning among the students.
The opening ceremony was attended by IAB President Architect Abu Sayeed M. Ahmed, who highlighted the role of such camps in shaping future design practices. He was joined by Professor Nizamuddin Ahmed, a veteran architect and scout leader, IAB Vice President Architect Khan Md. Mahfuzul Haque, and senior representatives from Shah Cement.
A Shah Cement spokesperson said, "Today's students are tomorrow's city builders. Supporting their development is an investment in the future of construction."
ARCHJAM 2025 emphasised creativity, sustainability, and community-driven design, offering participants an immersive learning environment that bridged theory and practice.
