EU envoy calls for stronger business ties at Sylhet dialogue

Strengthening business relations and promoting sustainable development between Europe and Bangladesh were the focus of "Business Beyond Borders", a dialogue on sustainable development held in Sylhet.
The Europe Bangladesh Federation of Commerce and Industry (EBFCI) organised the event on Wednesday at the city's Rose View Hotel, bringing together key figures from Sylhet's business community and European representatives.
In his keynote address, Michael Millar, ambassador and head of the European Union Delegation to Bangladesh, emphasised the need for sustainable business partnerships between the two regions.
"It is an opportunity to foster lasting connections and exchange ideas on EU-Bangladesh relations," he said.
"The interim government has reaffirmed its commitment to economic and financial sector reforms, and the European Union is keen to support this transition."
He urged the business community to diversify their prospects and create an investor-friendly environment.
The event opened with remarks from Mohammad Ali, executive director and country head of EBFCI, followed by a presentation on the organisation's recent delegation visit to Bangladesh, highlighting new opportunities for collaboration.
Business leaders and stakeholders from Sylhet engaged in discussions on investment prospects, trade facilitation, and strategies for long-term partnerships between European and Bangladeshi enterprises.
