The Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services yesterday awarded 76 individuals and startups in 35 categories for their outstanding contribution to digitisation.

ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar handed over the awards to the winners at a ceremony held at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh. This is the second edition of the BASIS awards.

Of the winners, 32 teams out of 35 will be participating in the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards to be held in Guangzhou, China in October.

Jabbar, also a former president of BASIS, said he is hopeful that the country will move fast towards digitisation through this process of recognition.

The minister said he was happy to hear that the next APICTA Awards would witness a huge number of participants from Bangladesh.

“I hope the participants will bring glory to the country,” he noted.

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Telecom Secretary Sham Shundor Shikdar, ICT Secretary Zuena Aziz, BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir and ICT awards committee convener Didarul Alam also spoke on the occasion.
