BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia this evening called upon all to continue the countrywide ongoing “peaceful blockade” until the government invites the party to sit in a dialogue on holding a fresh free, fair and inclusive election.
Khaleda, who has been kept confined to her Gulshan office since January 3, came up with the announcement when some BNP leaders met her there this evening.
Quoting Khaleda, BNP standing committee member Rafiqul Islam Mia said the 20-party alliance sponsored movement will continue for an indefinite period till the demand is met.
Rafiqul, another standing committee member of the party Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman and former attorney general AJ Mohammad Ali called on the BNP chief at her Gulshan office.
Meanwhile, the security has been relaxed in front of Khaleda’s office this evening.
All the five trucks loaded with sands, bricks and timbers were removed from the entrance of the office around 7:30pm, reports our correspondent from the spot.
