AL-led 14-party men hindering polls campaign: Nazrul Islam Khan

BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan has blamed the activists of the Awami League-led 14-party grand alliance for hindering their election campaigns at different places across the country.

“Our election campaigns are being obstructed, but police were playing a silent role,” Nazrul Islam Khan brought the allegation today, the second day of electioneering for the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

Referring to the attack on BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Khan termed it as a condemnable act and said, “How will we compete for the election if such attack continues.”

Khan was addressing the election coordination meeting of the Jatiya Oikyafront held at its Bijoy Nagar office in Dhaka this evening.

During the meeting, Khan also criticised the Election Commission for “not playing a neutral role” to hold the December 30 national election in a free, fair and credible manner.

“We believed that the Election Commission would play a neutral role, but practically we see it as biased,” he added.

He also called upon the government not to act against the democracy and said their victory is certain if they can compete for the election until its fag end.

“Please uphold democratic manner shunning the path of autocracy. Allow us to cast our votes smoothly,” he urged.
