BANGABANDHU'S INTERVIEW
WITH ABC
In an interview with the American Broadcasting Corporation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman today says that some big powers have been trying to destabilise South East Asia and the Middle East. They are also active in Bangladesh, he adds. "I have made my countrymen aware of these conspirators. I want to catch them red-handed," says the prime minister.
The interview will be telecast all over the US tomorrow.
Reiterating his firm stance on non-aligned and independent foreign policy, Bangabandhu says, "We may be a small country but we have many achievements to be proud of. We have sacrificed blood for achieving our independence. If anyone interferes in our internal affairs we will resist them."

Education Minister Professor Yusuf Ali declares today that a common pay scale will be introduced for all primary school teachers this month. He further informs that the government will soon form an education commission to reform the existing education system and make it people-oriented.

Bangabandhu today demands immediate withdrawal of all foreign troops from North Vietnam. In an interview with BSS, the Bangladesh prime minister says that activities like bombing, seizing ports and expansion of war cannot be conducive to peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflicts in the region. The US government should understand that these activities never bring any success; rather threaten world peace, he adds.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Vietnam, Bangabandhu says that his government and countrymen fully support the idea that the conflict in Vietnam should be resolved by the people of Vietnam alone and no foreign power should interfere in their internal affairs.
WITHDRAW FOREIGN TROOPS FROM NORTH VIETNAM: BANGABANDHUThe prime minister declares that Bangladesh will not join any power bloc. Regarding Bangladesh's relationship with India and Soviet Union, Bangabandhu says that these two countries had stood by the people of Bangladesh during the Liberation War and the country sincerely appreciates their support.
When asked about his view on the formation of opposition parties in Bangladesh, Bangabandhu says, "If people don't vote others I can't myself create an opposition party. We will hold elections. I have no reservation about people being elected in the elections form an opposition party."
