2 killed in AL factional clash
Two people were killed and 11 others injured yesterday in a clash between two factions of Awami League over establishing supremacy in Bogargot village of Sadar upazila.
The deceased were identified as Anwar Ali, 45, a supporter of UP member and ward-9 AL Vice-president Bachchu Mia, and Motalib Mia, 40, a supporter of ward president Kamal Sarkar.
Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Model Police Station Md Syeduzzaman said as a sequel to previous enmity, supporters of Bachchu Mia and Kamal Sarkar attacked each other with sharp weapons, leaving Anwar dead on the spot.
Among the injured, Motalib died on way to hospital.
The injured were rushed to Sadar Hospital and among them, four were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, he added.
Additional police members were deployed in the village to avert any untoward situation.
