Three people were killed and three others injured when a motorcycle slammed into a pickup in Chittagong's Banshkhali upazila yesterday afternoon.
The vehicles caught fire after the crash.
Motorcycle riders Nurul Hossain, 28, of Banshkhali and Abdul Latif Khan, 60, of Barisal, were killed at the scene while Rubel, 25, who was in the truck, died at Banshkhali Upazila Health Complex, said police.
Three other men on the truck Salamat Ullah, 40, Nurul Alam, 20, and Nurul Kabir, 28, sustained burn injuries. They are treated at Chittagong Medical College Hospital, Sub-inspector Liton Chakma of Banshkhali Police Station said.
The pickup carrying fish feed was heading for Cox's Bazar. Witnesses told police that before the collision, the truck was emitting a thick cloud of black smoke leading to poor visibility behind it.
The motorcycle, going in the same direction, rear ended it around 12:30pm. Both vehicles fell off the road after the crash and caught fire, the officer said, quoting witnesses.
The dead victims were significantly burnt, the officer added.
