TIB hosts ‘Anti-corruption Cartoon Competition and Exhibition’ virtually

To mark the International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9, 2020, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) organised the 15th edition of 'Anti-Corruption Cartoon Competition and Exhibition 2020' recently. The theme for this year's competition was, "Coronavirus Mokabelay Durniti" (Corruption in dealing with coronavirus).

Since 2006, TIB has been organising competitions and exhibitions to raise awareness and motivate the youth in combating corruption. The winners of the competition were announced today at a virtual ceremony. Dr Parveen Hasan, Chairperson, Trustee Board of TIB, presided over the event.

A discussion session on 'Youth in Anti-Corruption Movement: Cartoon and Art' was also arranged at the ceremony. Noted writer Syed Manzoorul Islam, writer and journalist Abul Momen, member of the Board of Trustees of TIB, Renowned Cartoonist and Editor of Unmad Ahsan Habib were present at the discussion. Shishir Bhattacharjee, cartoonist and Professor, Department of Drawing and Painting, Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka and Shahrier Khan, Cartoonist and Executive Editor, The Business Standard, were also in attendance.
Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Executive Director, TIB announced the winners at the event. Ahsan Habib, Shishir Bhattacharjee and Shahrier Khan were the judges of the competition. 130 cartoonists in two age categories, Group A (13-18 years) and Group B (19-25 years) participated in the event.
The top three winners from Group A were Ms Ismail Mahmud, Asif Mohammad Yousuf and Tasneem Sameeha Islam. The top three winners from Group B were Mahatab Rashid, Duronto Shadat Mahbub and Rahul Raj Debnath.
Six of the best cartoonists were awarded with prize money, crests and certificates and 42 cartoonists received the 'Special Mention' certificates. 80 cartoons are on display at the virtual exhibition.
