‘Sanjeeb Utshob’ to be organised virtually tomorrow
The ninth edition of "Sanjeeb Utshob", in loving memory of celebrated musician Sanjeeb Choudhury, will be organised online on December 25 (tomorrow), commemorating his 56th birthday. The talented singer, songwriter and journalist was one of the two leading members of the celebrated band Dalchhut, with Bappa Mazumder.
The concert will be aired live on the Facebook page, Sanjeeb Utshob, from 8 pm. The Sanjeeb Utshob Udjapon Parishad has been organising the event at University of Dhaka (DU) every year since 2010. It will be attended by noted musicians, writers and journalists. Bappa Mazumder will be performing at the concert, alongside numerous prominent singers.
"Bearing the pandemic in mind, we decided to host the concert online this year," says singer Joy Shahriar, one of the organisers of "Sanjeeb Utshob". "This event is dedicated to Sanjeeb Dada. Our purpose is to convey the philosophies behind Dada's songs to those who may not be familiar with his music." The concert is organised in collaboration with Ajob Karkhana, DU Cultural Society and DU Band Society. Although "Sanjeeb Utshob" will be held online, a candle-lighting will be organised at TSC's Sanjeeb Chattar, to commemorate the day.
Even today, when Bappa Mazumder performs with Dalchhut, they get requests for the songs written, composed and sung by Sanjeeb Choudhury.
Timeless hits like "Ami Tomakei Bole Debo", "Amake Ondho Kore Diyechhilo Chand" and "Bioscope" among others, have kept Sanjeeb Choudhury alive in the hearts of music lovers throughout the years. Together, Bappa Mazumder and Sanjeeb Choudhury crafted several hit albums, which includes 'Ahh' (1997), 'Hridoypur' (2000), 'Akashchuri' (2002), and 'Jochhona Bihar' (2007).
Sanjeeb Choudhury graduated from DU's Mass Communication and Journalism department. He was born on December 25, 1964. He passed away on November 19, 2007, due to cerebral haemorrhage.
