Queenie's 8th solo art exhibit in Bhutan
Artist Nasima Khanam Queenie's 8th solo art exhibition titled “One World” was recently held in Bhutan. Eminent Bhutanese artist Asha Karma Wangdi inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest on May 2. Bhutanese artists -- Bishma and Rajesh -- were present as special guests at the inaugural ceremony of the three-day show.
The chief guest expressed his deep appreciation for hosting the exhibition and hoped that it will let artists of the two countries interact and share their artistic ideas, thereby enriching each other, according to Queenie.
“I am delighted to note that many Bhutanese artists and art lovers came to enjoy my exhibition with enthusiasm. Seven of my artworks were sold and I donated the money to the organisation VAST BHUTAN. Hotel Migmar sponsored their hall room for my exhibition. I am extremely grateful to everyone who helped me organise a successful exhibition in Bhutan,” said Nasima Khanam Queenie.
“The outcome of the subconscious was the theme of my artworks. Through the exhibited prints, I tried to reflect on simpler times when people lived in harmony with nature. It also focused on the natural space management and the coexistence of all living beings,” added the artist.
Artist Rajesh, one of the founding members of VAST and who also worked with Queenie in 2014 during the SAARC Art Camp in Bangladesh, expressed hope that a joint exhibition can be held under the auspices of VAST in the days ahead.
