5 killed in road crashes

Five people were killed and ten others injured in road accidents in Dhaka, Rangpur, Bogra and Jhenidah yesterday.
Our staff correspondent reports, truck helper Enamul, 35, was killed instantly when a bus and the truck collided head-on in the capital's Paltan early yesterday.
Four passengers of the Hanif Paribahan bus sustained minor injuries, said Paltan police.
Meanwhile, six people, including four policemen, were injured after a human hauler carrying them had overturned being hit by a bus in Badda early yesterday.
They are Assistant Sub-inspector Asim Kumar Biswash; constables Shah Alam, Mominul, Mobarak and Al Amin; Ansar member Rafiqul Islam; and the human hauler driver Sagor.
Our Rangpur correspondent reports, two people were killed as a tractor plunged into a ditch after hitting a tree beside Rangpur-Kurigram highway in Bijolerghunti of Kaunia upazila yesterday noon.
The deceased were the tractor driver Sujon Kanto Roy, 22, and helper Milon Mian, 27.
Our Bogra correspondent adds, Dakhil examinee Farzana Akhtar, 15, daughter of Farid Uddin, died as a truck ran her over at Shujabad Dohapara in Shajahanpur yesterday morning.
Our Jhenidah correspondent adds, bicyclist Imran Hossain, 18, son of Sahidul Islam, died as a truck ran him over on Jhenidah-Jessore road at Bishoykhali Bazar in Sadar upazila yesterday.
