Where has all the news gone?
Although I cannot profess to have any numbers on this topic, it seems to me that "The Daily Star" is dedicating more and more of its space for advertisements.
I have been an avid reader of this newspaper since its inception, and enjoy reading it every morning (that's the first thing I do after waking up). However, I cannot help but make this comment. This newspaper now carries full-page ads, half page ads, quarter page announcements, and pages of "tender notice". Although we are getting more pages than before ("Star City"), I don't believe we are getting more news.
This newspaper is not a charity and needs to make money - which is understandable and acceptable. However, I sincerely hope it doesn't become like newspapers in the US, where only 30% of the paper is dedicated to news and the rest 70% to non-news items, mainly ads.
