Larsson now a Catalan

Former Celtic striker Henrik Larsson confirmed that he has completed his move to Spanish side Barcelona after passing a medical.

The 32-year-old Swede has agreed a one-year deal, with an option for a second year, and will be unveiled by the club on Wednesday.

Larsson told the club website: "Barcelona has always been one of my favourite clubs. It's good to be here."

Larsson spent seven years at Celtic but quit at the end of last season and has been available on a free transfer.

He was persuaded to come out of international retirement for Euro 2004 and scored two goals for Sweden against Bulgaria.

"He has been on the list of our coaching staff for some time," said Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

Larsson had been looking for a move to a warm climate to end a career which has taken him from Sweden to Feyenoord in Holland before his move to Scotland in 1997.

Barcelona have also bought Monaco captain Ludovic Guily and Villarreal's Brazilian defender Iuliano Belletti.

The Catalan giants are also negotiating with Portugal midfielder Deco.
