Foy's Lake goes to BPC

Bangladesh Railway (BR) yesterday formally handed over the authority of Foy's Lake to the Bangladesh Parjaton Corporation (BPC).

Officials of the BR handed over the ownership of the lake to the BPC officials by signing and exchanging documents at a simple ceremony held at the lakeside in the morning, official sources said.

Foy's Lake is the country's lone century old artificial water reservoir with more than 300 acres of land in port city's Pahartali area. It has been considered as one of the most beautiful tourist attractions for years in the country's south-western region.

Soon after getting authority of the Lake, BPC officials erected a signboard there and deployed their men to oversee the routine affairs of the Lake and its management, sources said.
