Two arrested on charge of killing their daughters
Two people were arrested in Bogra and Manikganj districts on charge of killing their daughters on Saturday and the day before.
Police arrested an elderly man on charge of killing his teenage daughter in Shantibagh area of Bogra town on Friday night, reports our correspondent.
During an interrogation, arrestee Hazrat Ali, 50, confessed to his involvement in the killing.
Mother of the deceased Amena Begum filed a case accusing Hazrat and his cohort Jamir Hossain, 35, an auto-rickshaw driver of Jaiguli village in Gabtoli upazila of the district.
Hazrat disclosed to police that he killed his daughter Hasna Khatun, 15, as he disliked her way of life. Hazrat said she used to mix with some local bad boys despite his repeated warnings.
In Manikganj, a teenage schoolgirl was strangled to death allegedly by her father at Garakul village in Sadar upazila on Saturday night, reports our correspondent.
The deceased was identified as Jerin Akhter, 13, a student of class VI at Muktijoddha Smriti High School.
Police quoting the victim's family said when Jerin was sleeping with her grandmother Sona Banu, her father Fazlul Haque called her in his room.
Yesterday morning, family members found her dead in her father's room.
SI Shafiqul Islam of Sadar PS said, they suspect that Fazlul Haque strangled her daughter. They arrested him from the house. However, police could not say the reason behind her killing.
