Tux and Gowns, But “Livin' On A Prayer”

The video of a musical performance at a recent charity gala at Kensington Palace has gone viral all over the internet, as it features Taylor Swift and Prince William singing along the verses of Bon Jovi's 1986 hit song “Livin' On A Prayer” with none other than Jon Bon Jovi himself in front of a crowd of 600 people.
It started when Jon Bon Jovi announced the song he'd be performing next, but added, “Just maybe, the karaoke kid could come up and sing along…” which was a reference to the Prince's karaoke performance of the song at one of his cousin's wedding. “You don't have to do it, Your Majesty, I understand,” Jon said when William was hesitating. “I can't fly helicopters or ride motorcycles like you do. That's cool, that's cool. A couple of words…” Had I been Dr. Sheldon Cooper, I'd at this point wonder if the reference to helicopters and motorcycles was sarcasm. That was some sarcasm or some emotional blackmailing that finally won over the Royal's consent.
As Jon started singing, Prince William climbed on the stage, accompanied by Taylor Swift. The prince nervously adjusted his bow-tie, while the pop-star just started dancing the moment she faced the crowd. But His Royal Highness didn't hold himself back when the chorus started, blaring into the mic alongside Jon and Taylor, and even motioned for the crowd to raise their voices and join along, while Taylor's actions resembled a socially awkward teenager at the prom.
The guitar solo by Jon Bon Jovi that followed the first chorus was an absolute delight. They continued the song similarly till the end, bellowing into the mic and enjoying every last bit of it.
Reports say that this was the most entertaining performance of the night, which rendered James Blunt to dedicate his song “You're Beautiful” to the Prince. Even though William has many a times been part of charity galas, this was the first in which he sang on stage alongside two famed American singers, which was the basic reason this video spread like fire. 'Cause let's face it, everything the Royal does becomes news; he marries, news; he becomes a father, news; he sings, news. And this was a charity for the homeless, if I haven't mentioned already. Regarding the choice of the song, Jon, I see what you did there.
Taylor Swift thanked the second-in-line to the British throne by saying, “It is my first time playing at Kensington Palace or any other palace for that matter. I have to thank you, Prince William, for having me. It's amazing. To call attention to this age group especially, teens and young adults.” So, Taylor, how soon can we expect a song about His Royal Highness?
