One killed, six injured in Tangail accident

A man was killed and six other people, including four policemen, were injured in a road accident in Tangail's Mirzapur early today.
The deceased was Mohammad Illias, 42, of Badarganj of Rangpur district.
The four injured policemen are Gorai Highway Police Station officer-in-charge Masud Khan, Sergeant Khairul Islam, and two constables-- Rashedul Islam and Harun Or Rashid.
The injured were admitted to the Mirzapur Kimudini Hospital.
Sub-Inspector Sirajul Islam of Gorai Highway Police Station said a Dhaka-bound potato-laden truck from Rangpur overturned on the highway on Mirzapur Bypass around 2:00am, causing hamper on vehicular movements on the highway.
On information, four policemen of Gorai Highway Police Station led by the OC went there to remove the wreckage from the road.
Around 3:00pm, while some labourers were working the road clearance, a Gazipur bound truck suddenly ran over them around 3:00am, leaving seven people, including the policemen, injured.
They were immediately rushed to the Kumudini Hospital where worker Illias was declared dead.
Police seized the truck, but its driver and helper managed to escape, the SI added.
