Man found dead in in-laws’ home in Lalmonirhat

Police recovered the body of a man from his in-laws' house in Lalmonirhat's Kaliganj Upazila at noon today.

The deceased was Moslem Uddin, 23, son of Anwarul Islam of Sadati village. His family have alleged that he was beaten to death by his in-laws in a family feud.

Police recovered Moslem's body from his father-in-law Shariful Islam's house in Bhullarhaat this noon and sent it to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy, reports our local correspondent quoting police.

The victim's father filed a case today in this connection, accusing Shariful and four others, including Moslem's wife Sharmin Begum, said Sajjad Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station.

The cause of death will be determined once the autopsy is done, he said.

Moslem's maternal uncle Shafiqul Islam told our correspondent that Sharmin's family members beat him to death at their home and fled, leaving the body behind.

When locals informed Moslem's family, they went to the police, he added.

According to Shafiqul, Moslem had been living at his in-laws' since marrying Sharmin a year ago, adding that the couple were unhappy and that Sharmin's family often got involved in their quarrels.

Police are trying to arrest the accused in the case, OC Sajjad added.
