Govt sincere in addressing workers' rightful demands: home ministry

Reaffirming the government's commitment to workers' rights, the Ministry of Home Affairs has urged all stakeholders to maintain a stable and secure environment in the garment and industrial sectors.

In a statement issued today undersigned by ministry public relations officer Faisal Hasan, the ministry stated, "The government fully supports the legitimate demands of garment and industrial workers, including due wages and benefits. Efforts are ongoing to ensure these demands are met, and factory owners, along with BGMEA, have been instructed accordingly. Their actions are under close monitoring."

However, the ministry warned against any disruptions in the name of unjustified demands.

"Causing instability in the garment sector, blocking roads, or engaging in chaos and violence is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. With the support of law enforcement agencies, the government will take strict action against any such activities," read the statement.

The statement further called upon both factory owners and workers to cooperate in maintaining a safe and orderly industrial environment for the greater good of the country.
