Bangladesh government must rethink its energy policy
At least $4.45 billion is needed in fuel costs to ensure adequate power supply from February to June, when demand is set to increase by more than 50 percent, the Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) estimates.
National grid line failure has caused power outage in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet and Cumilla this afternoon (October 4, 2022).
The government has a target to bring all the electricity consumers of the country under prepaid meters by 2025.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has claimed that the power supply situation has been better in the current month than that in the previous month.
