Storms damage 400 houses in Habiganj, Netrakona

Storms lashed Netrakona and Habiganj districts on Wednesday night, damaging over 400 houses and injuring 30 people.
Our Netrakona correspondent reported that at least 400 houses were damaged as nor'wester swept through 22 villages in Netrakona municipality, Sadar and Durgapur upazilas.
The affected villages are Khotibnagua, Bolainagua under Netrakona municipality; Tatior and Kumiri in Sadar upazila; and Shreepur, Rambari and Jangail in Durgapur upazila.
Several hundred trees and electric poles were uprooted during the storm that continued for an hour from 11:00pm. Power supply in astorm-hit areas could not be restored as 2:00 pm yesterday.
In Habiganj, storm lashed four villages under Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj district, damaging at least 30 houses and injuring ten people, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent.
The affected villages were Paromanandapur, Rosulpur Itakhola and Surma Tea garden area.
The twister accompanied by hail and rain hit the areas at around 11:00pm and lasted for and hour. Irri-boro paddy was badly damaged while a good number of trees and electric poles were uprooted.
Palli Bidyut Samity reinstalled the electric polls and restored power supply in the storm-hit areas yesterday noon.
Local union parishad chairman has prepared a list of the affected families to submit it to the upazila Nirbahi officer. .
Madhabpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Syed Md Shahjahan visited the villages yesterday and assured the affected families of all possible help.
