‘Rethinking Disciplinary Diversity: Challenges of Teaching English in the 21st Century’ at BRACU

The Department of English and Humanities (ENH) at BRAC University is going to organise a two-day international conference titled “Rethinking Disciplinary Diversity: Challenges of Teaching English in the 21st Century” on November 15 and 16, 2018 at BRAC University Auditorium.
Scholarly conferences addressing issues related to critical pedagogy and contemporary approaches to literature have become a regular feature of the ENH program at BRAC University. Conferences held in the Department previously have successfully highlighted the interdisciplinary aspects of our teaching philosophy. As a continuation of this tradition, this conference is particularly aimed at providing a platform to scholars and academics from different disciplines and countries to share their valuable research and insights which will help in addressing challenges related to Applied Linguistics and ELT. The conference is open to all.
Prominent international specialists and scholars as key-note speakers will share their research findings related to the different issues in contemporary teaching pedagogy. Professor Janinka Greenwood from University of Canterbury at Christchurch, New Zealand and Dr Obaidul Hamid from The University of Queensland, Australia are going to discuss some interesting issues in their keynote addresses. As one of the leading experts in ELT and the president of BELTA, Harunur Rashid will discuss the future directions that ELT might take in Bangladesh. Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam, from his experience of teaching English for decades both at home and abroad, will deliver a very special lecture focusing on the innovative integration of literature in language teaching.
