PlexusD: A ground-breaking partner in healthcare
PlexusD is a technological start-up that allows people to avail different healthcare services whenever they need it, in a hassle-free way, with a service charge of BDT 30. With its cloud-based healthcare networking platform and application, PlexusD aims to solve different healthcare-related problems, starting from making digital appointments to saving patients' medical records by providing cloud back-ups, e-prescriptions and digital billings.
When someone needs assistance with a medical problem, they can post about it on the app or website. Out of the pool of doctors, the ones who specialise on the issue, will be notified immediately. Data from previous records of the patients are organised and presented in one window, which gives doctors insights into suitable medications for the patients and the side-effects particular medications may have on the patients. After the pathological tests, patients receive their lab reports at home, which are then automatically forwarded to the doctors. The system also reminds a patient about taking their medications timely and notifies them about further follow-ups. PlexusD also shares blog posts on different diseases, symptoms, preventions and home remedies.
PlexusD was initiated when the founder and CEO, Nazim Mahmud, was personally affected by the loopholes in the medical sector of Bangladesh. "My mother received the wrong treatment, and suffered from kidney failure. I realised that amidst all the prescriptions and paperwork in her medical folder, a small slip containing the vital information about her kidney went unnoticed," he said. Sheikh Rizvee and Sarwar Jahan are the co-founders of PlexusD.
The PlexusD team is currently affiliated with more than 20 medical chambers and over 250 doctors. Till now, the app has aided nearly 13,000 patients. According to the team's records, 20, 000 people use the app and website each month. Furthermore, they have scheduled 11, 000 appointments in the last eight months.
The team faced many predicaments in its initial stages. After starting the project in 2015, it came to an abrupt end in 2017, when the team disintegrated and Nazim had to start everything from scratch again. Nazim and his team are looking for funds and investors at the moment. As of now, PlexusD is a self-financed project with thirteen employees.
The PlexusD team conducts weekly visits and regularly monitors the system for further development. They intend to develop the artificial intelligence for automated prescriptions and customise appointments, according to the requirements and financial conditions of the patients. They also aim to work with hospitals in the near future.
