DU students return to “Gono room” culture
Despite the Dhaka University (DU) administration's intention to end the "Gono room" culture, the practice of tens of students cramming into such rooms is ongoing after residential halls reopened following the Covid-induced closure.
First-year students still have to take refuge in the "Gono room". Students feel that the political clout of some, and not an accommodation crisis, is responsible for this situation.
The Daily Star published a report on the mismanagement in the accommodation in DU halls. Learn more about it on Star News+.
