Tigers reach Adelaide to face India, Pakistan
The Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh side reached Adelaide from Brisbane today to play their fourth and fifth Super 12 fixtures, against India and Pakistan, respectively, in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.
"The team reached here [Adelaide] safely. The team management has decided to give the players full rest tomorrow as they played a match the day before and today it was a three-hour flight from Brisbane to Adelaide. The weather forecast is also not good for tomorrow as there is a possibility of rain," Bangladesh team manager Rabeed Imam told The Daily Star over phone today.
Bangladesh will face India on November 2 before taking on Pakistan on November 6 at the Adelaide Oval.
Bangladesh, who suffered a heavy defeat against South Africa after winning their opening match against the Netherlands, survived intense drama and a chaotic final over before prevailing by three runs in a thriller against Zimbabwe in Brisbane on Sunday.
India-Bangladesh is the fixture that could turn Group 2 on its head. However, there are some dark clouds over the match because of the weather in Adelaide.
A win for Bangladesh would blow the group wide open, putting them two points clear of India with just one game to play and potentially opening a path for India's semi-final spot to be snatched from them in the last round of matches.
Should India win, they will have more than a foot in the semi-finals, with Zimbabwe awaiting them in Sunday's fifth and final group game.
South Africa's win over India means they jump into top spot in the group on five points.
India and Bangladesh are hot on their heels, both on four points.
South Africa's Net RR of +2.772, created by the crushing 104-run win over Bangladesh, means they are now clear favourites to qualify in the group.
