Shamsul Bari no more
Legendary hockey administrator Shamsul Bari passed away at a hospital in the capital on Tuesday morning. He was 74.
Bari left behind his wife and two sons.
Bari had served as the general secretary of Bangladesh Hockey Federation from 1988 to 2007. Previously he had served as the joint secretary of the federation from 1984 to 1988.
Born in Rajshahi in 1946, Bari played hockey in different clubs of Dhaka from 1964 to 1978. After ending his playing career, he had worked as a judge and an umpire also before taking up the role of an administrator.
He also served as the deputy secretary general of Bangladesh Olympic Association.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held after Zuhr prayers at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium today. He is to be buried at the Banani Graveyard in the afternoon.
