Nat'l Kabaddi C'ship returns
The National Kabbadi Championship gets underway from Saturday, after a three-year gap, as sponsors Meizan Fortified Palm Olein decided to renew their relationship with the Bangladesh Kabbadi Federation (BKF).
Meizan had a three-year agreement worth Tk 1.8 crore with BKF but they retreated two years into the agreement in 2011 following some disagreements with the BKF officials.
"We don't want to recall the past incidents and we want to start with kabbadi federation afresh and help them organise the domestic events as well as international tournaments," said the company's marketing manager Faisal Mahmud at a press conference yesterday.
In the national championship, a total 31districts, split into seven zones, will play in the preliminarily round and each zonal champions will advance to the second round and later four semifinalists will qualify for the eight-team final round.
Remaining four teams of the final round will de deiced through games between seven services teams.
