Lloyd replaced as chairman of selectors

West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) have replaced legendary captain Clive Lloyd as chairman of selectors for the national team with former Test wicketkeeper Courtney Browne, the WICB said in a statement.
Why Lloyd was sacked or whether he walked away of his own accord remains unclear, but fans of their beloved cricket team certainly won’t be able to digest the news with ease.
That was made evident by West Indies’ World Twenty20 winning captain Darren Sammy -- who has had his own problems with the board -- when he tweeted “Oh Lord” in response to the news.
Lloyd had held the post since August 2014, and will formally relinquish his duties on September 30, but he will still be involved with the board as the WICB’s ‘special ambassador’ -- a role which will see him being “responsible for being a spokesperson for the Board at special events in and out of the region".
"The time as Chairman was quite rewarding and I am hoping my contribution would have added value to the current system," 71-year-old Lloyd said in the statement.
"I made every attempt to serve with distinction and I was pleased to contribute to the game again. I look forward to the new role. The details of that arrangement will be discussed and will be released shortly."
Browne has been involved in the selection process for nearly six years and will be groomed by Lloyd during the ‘handover period’ before assuming duties for the appointed two-year period.
"We are satisfied that Clive’s upcoming role will serve as another great opportunity to promote the best of West Indies Cricket," said WICB president Dave Cameron.
