T&T allege foul play
T&T Club had to be satisfied with a third-place finish in the Bangladesh Championship League (BCL) after playing out a goalless draw against Victoria SC in their last match at the Birshrestha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium yesterday. Referee Mizanur Rahman came under sharp criticism for his 'controversial role'.
T&T Club needed an outright victory over Victoria SC to push Arambagh KS behind and become runners-up in the BCL courtesy of a superior goal difference, but the stalemate in the match ensured T&T Club would stay third with 21 points from 14 outings, two behind second-placed Arambagh KS, who moved into the Bangladesh Premier League along with champions Uttar Baridhara Club.
Mizanur Rahman allegedly ruled out of a goal in favour of T&T Club in the first half of the game and blew the final whistle three minutes before the end of 10-minutes of added time after the game was halted for a few minutes following a scuffle among players of the two teams.
"Everyone saw what happened in the game. The referee cancelled out a genuine goal and openly favoured Victoria Club," said T&T Club coach Arman Hossain.
