As per tradition, boys are always booked for the job of being ball boys. But that role is set to be carried out by girls in the upcoming FIFA World Cup. A Russian girls’ football team, from Agryz in Tatarstan, will perform as ball boys in the opening World Cup match.

The selection campaign was held among girls aged between 13 and 16, and the winners were chosen by Russian national team. The results were announced earlier in the week.

"Everybody screamed. The emotions we experienced were unbelievable. It is probably the biggest dream for football players to attend the World Cup. We are speechless, absolutely speechless," said Yulia Shustova, the team captain.

It was not easy for the girls to become ball boys at that global stage. They took part in a nationwide competition and won it. The youngsters participated in the World Cup trophy tour in Kazan on Thursday. After winning that battle, they are ready to be presented as ball boys in the opening match of the World Cup between Russia and Saudi Arabia on June 14 in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium.
