Mbappe leads France’s fresh start

Three months on from their agonising defeat in the World Cup final in Doha, France begin a new era as Les Blues start their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign without Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema, and with Kylian Mbappe leading the team against the Netherlands tonight. It seems like a new dawn for France with a new captain, new goalkeeper, new defence, new governance and major players retired. The two-time World Cup winners will then play Ireland in another Group B match in Dublin on Monday.
