Hakim storms into final
Following a string of failures in team events, archer Hakim Ahmed Rubel entered the individual men's recurve final in the Asian Cup Archery Stage-3 after beating Hong Kong, Vietnam, India and South Korean opponents in Sharjah yesterday.
Rubel beat Korea's Kang Minseung in a tiebreaker after the five-set semifinal ended in a 5-all draw. In the tiebreaker, Rubel hit 10 out of 10 to outshine Minseung, who managed nine, to set up Sunday's final clash against Kazakhstan's Adullin Iifat.
Rubel had defeated Indian archer Akash 6-4 in the quarterfinal after dispatching Vietnam's Nong Van Linh in tiebreakers in the pre-quarterfinal.
