FIFA upholds ban on Arambagh KS players and officials
FIFA disciplinary committee on Friday approved the ban levied by Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on Arambagh KS players and officials last year in September for their involvement in live betting, spot-fixing, match manipulation, online betting during Bangladesh Premier League 2020-21 season, making the ban imposed on them active worldwide.
Minhazul Islam Minhaz, the former president and chief patron of Arambagh KS, is one of the official who comes under this lifetime worldwide ban.
"The appeal committee of BFF had before banned Arambagh KS officials and players for different terms for their involvement in spot fixing, live betting, online betting and match manipulation in September last year. To implement the punishments of those officials and players worldwide, the disciplinary committee of FIFA on Feb 3 also decided to uphold the same punishment worldwide," said a BFF press release today.
Team manager Gohor Jahangir Rusho, Indian fitness trainer Maidul Islam Sheikh and team assistant manager Arif Hossain have also been suspended for life while Indian physio Sanjoy Bose and Indian game analyst Azizul Sheikh were banned for 10 years worldwide.
Apart from team officials and coaching staff, 13 players including two foreign recruits were also banned for different terms ranging from one to three years worldwide.
