Abahani off to winning start

Abahani Limited got their AFC cup campaign off to a winning start, beating hosts Manang Marshyangdi Club 1-0 in their Group E opener at the ANFA Complex ground in Lalitpur, Nepal today.

Masih Saighani scored the all-important goal in the 27th minute of the game and Abahani held onto the lead.

Six-time professional league champions Abahani did not win either of their opening AFC Cup fixtures in the last two editions, where they finished fourth and third in four-team groups in 2017 and 2018 respectively, notching one win and one draw from their six matches on both occasions.

Abahani will play their next match on 17th April. They have five more matches in the group phase and only the group champion will go through to the second round.
