Abahani move second in BPL

Abahani toppled Bashundhara Kings to climb up to the second position of the table in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with a comprehensive 5-0 win over bottom-placed Chittagong Abahani at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla today.

Enamul Islam Gazi scored a brace while Emeka Ogbugh, Assaduzzaman Bablu, and Raphael Augusto netted one goal apiece, as Abahani accumulated 31 points from 16 matches.

At the same venue, Mohammedan SC, who have already won the league to claim their first-ever BPL title, suffered a 4-3 defeat to Rahmatganj MFS. Sameul Boateng scored a hattrick and Taj Uddin netted one for Rahmatganj, who are now fifth on the table with 26 points from 16 matches. 

Soleymane Diabate struck twice and Emmanuel Sunday scored one for Mohammedan, who remain on top with 38 points from 16 matches.

In the day's other fixture, Fortis FC came from behind to play out a 1-1 draw with Bangladesh Police FC, with Pa Omar cancelling out Al Amin's 44-minute lead. Police and Fortis are in sixth and seventh places, respectively.
