SIXR six-hitting contest held in Dhaka

The country's first six-hitting contest, SIXR Cricket Carnival Volume One, was held at the Kalabagan Krira Chakra ground in the capital on Saturday.
Organised by the SIXR Cricket Foundation, a total of 115 kids took part in the event. The competition was to hit the most sixes off six balls in the range from the field's long-off to long-on region.
Mohammad Shihab, Asir Intasa Sohan and Shihab Islam won the top three prizes. Each participant received a bat and cap from the special guests.
Former Bangladesh captain Shahriar Nafees was the event's chief guest. He held a one-hour session, discussing big hitting with the participants.
Former Bangladesh cricketer Hannan Sarkar, head coach of Dhaka Premier League (DPL) champions Abahani, also attended the programme. Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Rangpur Riders team director Shanian Taneem was also present.
The other guests were Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) game development manager Abu Emam Mohammed Kawsar, bowling coach Mahbub Ali Zaki, Dhaka Sporting Club's coaches Fahim Alim and Rubaiyat Haque. SIXR Cricket owner Ahad Mohammad Bhai was also in attendance.
SIXR Cricket Foundation is a UK based charity aimed to help develop the game of cricket around the world.
Its first event in Bangladesh marks the start of a journey aimed towards enabling the country's future stars with the platform and tools needed to reach the top.
