RCB stay alive

An unbeaten 44-ball 82 from AB de Villiers guided Royal Challengers Bangalore to a 17-run victory over Kings XI Punjab and kept them alive in the Indian Premier League in Bangalore yesterday. The De Villiers effort helped Virat Kohli’s men post 202 for 4 in 20 overs and their bowlers defended the total, thanks to a late wobble from the Punjab batters.

RCB: 202 for 4 (De Villiers 82 not out, Stoinis 46 not out, Patel 43; Ashwin 1-15)

Kings XI: 185 for 7 (Rahul 42, Pooran 46; Yadav 3-36)

Result: RCB won by 17 runs.
