Hridoy takes form to DPL

Fresh off a promising start in international cricket through the England series, Bangladesh batter Towhid Hridoy was back to domestic circuit yesterday, smashing an unbeaten 54 off 30 deliveries to get Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club to an eight-wicket victory over Dhaka Leopards in the opening match of the Dhaka Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur yesterday. Towhid Hridoy carried on his domestic form to the DPL and struck an unbeaten 30-ball 54 to help defending champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi to an eight-wicket win over Dhaka Leopards at Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in a curtailed-over game yesterday.

Earlier, Dhaka Leopards were bowled out for 169, with Mrittunjoy Chowdhury and Parvez Rasool bagging three wickets each for Sheikh Jamal.

In another game at BKSP, Prime Bank Limited won by seven runs against City Club. Alok Kapali's unbeaten 55 and Taijul Islam's 31 helped Prime Bank to 216 for six that game, which too was curtailed.

In reply, City Club were restricted to 209 for seven in 42 overs. At Fatullah, Legends of Rupganj won by 20 runs through DLS method against Agrani Bank after bad light abruptly ended play. Rupganj reached 215 for three in 38.5 overs in reply to Agrani's 243 for eight in 42 overs.

Mohammedan Sporting Club will take the field against Gazi Group Cricketers today, but the big question is whether Shakib Al Hasan will feature in the game given that Bangladesh players will leave for Sylhet today for the Ireland ODIs.
