Mushfiqur ‘honoured’ to be in company of legends
Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim said he was 'honoured' to be named in Wisden's Teenage Riot Test XI alongside greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Garry Sobers.
The Test XI features players who made their Test debut as teeanagers but does not involve more than two players from one country. And the players were picked based on not how they performed as teenagers, rather by considering how they performed or have been performing throughout their careers.
"Alhamdulillah. What a great feeling to be part of a team featuring so many legends! I am truly honored to be part of the Wisden's Teenage Riot Test XI," wrote Mushfiqur on his official Instagram account.
In 2018, Mushfiqur struck his second Test double ton -- an unbeaten 219, the highest individual score by a Bangladeshi in Tests -- against Zimbabwe and became the first wicketkeeper-batsman in the world to have scored two Test double hundreds. And in that sense, it is not at all a surprise to see the 33-year-old's name alongside all these greats.
He scored his first Test double hundred (200) in 2013 against Sri Lanka.
The Bangladesh stalwart made his Test debut at the age of 17 in a Test against England at Lord's in 2005.
