Spelling Bee Season 3 starts airing tonight
The first episode of Spelling Bee Season 3 will be aired on Channel i, tonight (April 30) at 7:50 pm. The show will feature the students of Khulna and Sylhet divisions and Maple Leaf International School, Dhaka.
Organisers Champs21.com, scouted the country for two months up to the district level. This grassroots level reach has created a buzz in the country. Students, parents and teachers are excited to take part in an internationally acclaimed contest, organised in over 56 countries, that is being held in Bangladesh for the 3rd consecutive year.
Approximately 3 lakh students participated to qualify for the final rounds of this year's The Daily Star Spelling Bee powered by Horlicks. Students from class six to ten first competed in different rounds in their schools and later competed against children from their divisions to participate in the TV round. This contest will give the Champion a chance to visit Washington DC with a parent.
This season's Spelling Bee will feature a whopping number of 96 participants, 24 more than previous years, in TV rounds spread over 36 episodes.
The season will culminate with a Grand Finale, where six finalists will fight it out for the trophy with one Champion emerging at the end of a five- month journey. The Champion, 1st and 2nd runner-up will get an education policy worth Taka 5 lakhs, Taka 3 lakhs and Taka 2 lakhs respectively by MetLife Alico.
Spelling Bee's official pronouncer Zunaed Rabbani and anchor Rumana Malik Munmun are continuing this season, as well. Renowned reality TV show maker Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel has directed and Russell T. Ahmed has produced the show. Grey Dhaka has created the set, for Spelling Bee this season on Floor 8 of FDC. Faber-Castell provided all the stationary used by the participants throughout the competition.
This year, not just the participants but audiences can also get involved in the Spelling Bee competition. Champs21.com has designed and developed an Android App, "Spell Champs". The App will be available in the Google Play Store. Through the app audiences can play daily, and from them the highest scorer of the week will win a Tab.
The show is accessible to the audience as well. The Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/spellbangladesh) has regular updates and the YouTube channel has all the episodes of the show.
