Siddikur gears up for big day
Bangladesh's premier golfer Siddikir Rahman stayed in contention for his third Asian Tour title as he held on to the joint second position on a rain-interrupted third day of the SAIL-SBI Open in New Delhi yesterday. Siddikur, who began the day four shots off the leaders at 10-under-par (212), managed to card two birdies without any bogeys in the seven holes he completed before thunderstorm forced suspension of play.
Siddikur was at 12-under on aggregate, one behind joint leaders Rashid Khan of India and Mithun Perera of Sri Lanka, and equal with Anirban Lahiri of India.
Siddikur, who won his second Asian Tour title at the Delhi Golf Club last November, said he was gearing up for a big day ahead.
“It's going to be a long day for all players. You have to be fit and be prepared for 28 holes. I'm feeling confident and I hope to enjoy the day,” said Siddikur to Asiantour.com yesterday.
Siddikur's compatriot Jamal Hossain Mollah was in joint 34th position at an aggregate of two-under having completed 12 holes in the third round while another Bangladeshi, Shakhawat Hossain Sohel, was in 54th position at even-par having completed 12 holes in the day.
