THE THREE STOOGES

The Three Stooges is an American comedy act of the mid-20th century. The show was a vaudeville act with three main characters running the show: Moe, Larry and Curly. Although there have been many changes in their line-up, The Three Stooges is widely popular for the aforementioned characters. They have starred in many movies in different line-ups and various cartoon adaptations have also been made.

The three good-hearted fools have a knack for messing up the simplest of tasks and this is where the show draws its humour. A typical Three Stooges episode consist of Larry being slapped by Moe, uncountable eye pokes, head bumps and everlasting pie fights. The Stooges were masters of showcasing extremely physical slapstick comedy. The group's dialogues were also highly quotable and a lot of their lines have become popular catchphrases. From Moe's "Why I oughta!" to Curly's "Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk!" and Larry's "I'm sorry Moe, it was an accident", these catchwords are timeless. Their popularity clearly shows when an urban term has been coined based on them, "Three Stooges Syndrome" by The Simpsons.

Their behaviours and availability to the public have allowed them to age far better than their contemporaries. With each character displaying their distinctive comic style the show is one of the very few classic shows to this date that have been able to keep itself afloat among the new generation. The Three Stooges have been cranking up millions with their classic acts for over 86 years now, and for those who have not had the luck of witnessing this masterpiece, it is time to enjoy the classic vaudevilles!
