SPIDER-MAN To Join 'Avengers': Is Andrew Garfield Out?
After years of exclusion, Spider-Man might finally be joining the Marvel universe! But will Spidey star Andrew Garfield reprise his role? It's just been announced that Sony Studios, who's been responsible for all of the Spider-Man movies so far, has teamed with Marvel in producing future films. So, what does this mean for Spidey in the Marvel franchise and does that mean Andrew Garfield is exiting the films for good? This is groundbreaking because, as fans of the franchise know, Peter Parker (Spidey's real life identity) largely contributes to the Avengers alliance in many of the Marvel comics. Of course, with good news often comes some bad. Along with announcement of the new addition to the Marvel universe, it was also confirmed that Andrew, who had played Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, will not return to the franchise for future films. A new Spider-Man film is currently slated to open on July 28, 2017, however, because of the new partnership, fans may likely see Spidey on the silver screen before that date. While there is no official word yet as to which film we'll next see Spider-Man in, fans have been wildly speculating (perhaps accurately) that he will show up in Captain America: Civil War, heading to the big screen on May 6, 2016.
